Preschool Teacher

Shannon is a devoted parent to three curious and nature-loving children and a passionate professional in the fields of animal sciences, agriculture, and education. She currently holds the position of preschool teacher at Hope & Serenity Farm Sanctuary, where she integrates her extensive knowledge and enthusiasm into her role. Shannon holds Bachelor's degrees in Animal and Poultry Sciences and Dairy Science, which have been instrumental in her diverse career across various sectors. Her expertise is an invaluable resource to our team.

While studying at Virginia Tech, Shannon was actively involved in leading educational tours of the university's dairy and swine farms. Following her academic pursuits, she has held managerial roles on farms with a range of animals including exotic species, pigs, horses, goats, and her preferred, dairy cattle. Additionally, she has managed both rural and urban veterinary practices and worked as a veterinary technician for large, small, and exotic animals. Shannon was also recruited by Colorado State University as their Regional Extension Director, a role in which she facilitated communication between the state vet’s office, local farmers, and rural communities on topics such as herd health and livestock evacuations. Furthermore, she led county 4-H programs and has a decade of teaching experience, ranging from preschool special education to secondary environmental and life sciences, as well as vocational and agricultural education.

In 2019, Shannon made the transition from a traditional work setting to establish her own photography business, specializing in newborn, children, and family portraits. This shift allowed her the flexibility to be a stay-at-home parent while simultaneously nurturing her children's creativity and sense of wonder about the natural world. Her commitment to fostering an appreciation for all living creatures aligns seamlessly with the values upheld by Hope & Serenity Farm Sanctuary.

Shannon's multifaceted background, commitment to education, and passion for animals make her a valuable asset to Hope & Serenity Farm Sanctuary and the community it serves.
